On the night of March 24, 2023, Jesse went to a bonfire in the Hatfield meadows with friends. As people rushed to leave, a teenage driver in a pickup truck ran over him on a dirt road and kept going. There were plenty of people close enough to see that something was very wrong. No one called 911.
For about 45 minutes, Jesse lay on the ground with life‑threatening injuries while people filmed, argued, and tried to protect themselves from trouble instead of getting help. When someone finally did call, it was already too late. Jesse was taken to the hospital and transferred to Baystate Medical Center. He died on March 25, 2023.
We have to live with the knowledge that our son and brother would have had a chance if someone had picked up the phone right away. That gap—between what should have happened and what did—is the reason Jesse’s Justice exists.
